Double/Triple Dating

Posted on Sunday, October 26, 2014

One relaxing weekend a while ago doing gross couple things like going on a double date with Janine and Siang Loong! I must say that considering Justin and I see them a lot, this is one of the rare times we take pictures together because mostly we're just chilling out at Justin's place in unblog-able attire which the world is not interested in (or are you guys?)

It was quite a while ago, but I can't believe I remember all of this: we hit Toby's Estate since we have a The Entertainer one-for-one voucher for brunch! Afterwards we walk to Common Man's to find Emain and boyfriend, then we walk AGAIN to Great World City to watch X-Men (all the while the boys are miles in front because their legs are too long, hmph), then some famous char kway teow dinner (which I spend recapping the entire X-Men series to Janine) which leads to us to go back to Justin's place for a bit of an X-Men marathon (for the girls) and poker (for the boys) till late. Phew what a day!

I need to stop ranting on this blog.

The Best Mac & Cheese in Singapore

Posted on Thursday, October 23, 2014

So Jiehui and I went a little batshit crazy over what I call "the best mac n cheese I've EVER had in my life" at Feedlot Steakhouse Bar & Grill. To me, the perfect mac n cheese should be crispy and baked on top, yet oozy, melty and cheesy inside. Also, it should not be too heavy. So besides having all that, this one was infused with the most heavenly lobster essence that from the moment it arrived (warm and steaming) from the kitchen, we already knew from the aroma wafting out that this was going to be good. Not just good, but good. And the best part? It was just S$12.00++.

Chope is having a promo till mid-November where you can get this special, off-the-menu, Lobster Mac n Cheese from Feedlot at this price, but only if you reserve through the Chope website. It saddens me so much that I'll never get to eat it again after the promo is over, and I strongly feel that the management should definitely consider putting it on full time because this is a winner. The only downsides would be that by right it's one mac n cheese per reservation, and there wasn't a lot of lobster meat but hey, at S$12.00++, I really can't complain!

Must try. (They also have a 3 course set lunch at just S$23.00++ which looked good too so Jiehui and I want to come back for that!)

Katie for The Ordinary Co

Katie for The Ordinary Co
Model: Katie Yong
Photography & Styling: Myself

So while I do appreciate the whole beautiful minimalist-modern idealogy, I'm not sure if anyone else notices how there are a lot of similar accounts on Instagram that prescribe to this and it is starting to all bleed into one. But that said, it's trendy, and we know retail is all about keeping up with the trends which is why I (a little shamefully) decided to try my hand at styling one myself for The Ordinary Co because you have to be adaptable right? I do admire people who can constantly function at this high level of editing themselves throughout their daily lives on Instagram - I know I couldn't do it. Sure, my feed could be a little more focused, but maybe we all take this a little too seriously. In a few years time some other social media platform will come along and everyone will move on, and we'll look back and wonder why it was so important.

Lace & Leaves

Love Bonito Lannie Ribbed Crop Top | F21 Lace Midi Skirt | Charles & Keith Bag

This was the day that I got to spend some good quality time with Jiehui since she's in between jobs for just 3 weeks, and we were trying to make the most out of it. Gonna miss spending so much time with her when she starts her new employment at the end of October, but of course life goes on... (sniff).

By the way, this girl just got herself a blog which we joked has all of one post on red velvet cookies, but we know she'll keep updating, right? We spent the day wandering around town, topping up our wardrobes with new exciting finds from Topshop, and getting our eyebrows done (a complimentary treat from the nice people in charge of Browhaus, thank you!!!) And seriously, I half didn't want to wash my face at night because I lovelovelove how they filled in my eyebrows. But don't worry, I did in the end.

One Man Coffee

Posted on Tuesday, October 14, 2014

One Man Coffee is a few shops down the same row from the popular Habitat Coffee, but a little harder to find because the signage from above says "Crust" (which it shares a space with) and hence I always miss it out whenever I drive past. Personally though, I prefer One Man Coffee's interiors because there's always a place to sit and it's so much more spacious and relaxing! These photos are from an afternoon months ago with dear Jiehui and Emain that I hadn't had time to post about. Since then I've come back to One Man one more time, which is already 100% more than I do for most cafes haha. I always wish I could see all my girlfriends a little more often but I guess everyone's a little busy with life, but I always feel like we do have plenty of time in the world, we just have to make a point to include people in it!

Europe Outfit Diary

Posted on Saturday, October 11, 2014

Listening to: Atlas Hands - Benjamin Francis Leftwich

Dug up some unpublished photos above that Melissa took of me while we travelled in Europe during Exchange, and it made me miss Fall dressing very much. It's hard to get creative with layers here in the tropics where all you want to do is slap on your lightest shirt and shorts and head out of the house. Winter dressing is a little boring because all people see is your coat, but I do enjoy the challenge of getting all your winter accessories coordinated. My trick is to pick a multi-coloured scarf first, then pick the colour of my beanie and gloves according to colours in the scarf! You can see my outfits from London and Scotland where I applied the rule (sorry, that's the best fashion advice I can give other than wear the most colourful socks you can find in your boots cause no one will ever know).

I'm not sure if I miss exchange or the concept of exchange more.
