Denim + Leather

ASOS Chambray Shirt | F21 Leather Skirt

For some reason having this super light hair makes me feel like I should dress to suit it, so I've been going a little crazy on the dark lips / leather thing which gets me a lot of curious stares and attention walking down the street, it's not totally me, but I guess I'll just play along for now. Fun fact - these pictures were taken one day after my previous post below (the Kilo at PACT one!) I don't know why my hair changes colour drastically from day to day. I feel like a chameleon that has no power over it's colour and just keeps on turning yellower as time passes. Or is that leaves.

Anyway, heading to Vietnam in just 3 days - I've been writing lists of things to pack. I'm starting to think I can never travel light.

Kilo at PACT

Posted on Thursday, February 25, 2016

Grabbed my girls and headed to Kilo at PACT at Orchard Central over the weekend! I would never have known it was here if not for it's gorgeous raw industrial chic interiors catching my eye on le social media, so luckily Sujin and E-main are super easy going and let me pick where to go!

The area was smaller than anticipated, but since we were kind late for lunch, it was completely empty and we could sit wherever we wanted (phew).

For some reason their menu wasn't very extensive that day, but we decided to ordered a Set Lunch ($20.00++) which you can choose any of their Rice Bowls or Sushiros, and includes a drink and dessert as well. Value!

E-main got the Pan Seared Donburi Salmon Rice Bowl ($17.00++ alone!) which you can customise to have either sushi rice, brown rice or quinoa. She chose quinoa and I guess she liked it cause she wiped the bowl clean!

I didn't know what a Sushiro was, so I ordered the Tempura Prawn ($17.00++ alone) which promised me a large hang crafted roll covered in ebiko and stuffed with crispy prawns, cucumbers, cream cheese, avocado (!!) and carrots. It's so huge I couldn't finish it, and the prawns were not crispy at all, but I was so busy chit chatting with the girls I hardly noticed. Would definitely take my chances with the rice bowl instead if I ever come back!

Sujin also ordered a Sushiro, but hers was the Salmon Avocado (pic on the left). Personally I would have chosen that myself but I like variety - doesn't make sense if everyone orders the same thing! I realised I totally forgot to ask Sujin to trade sushiro halves with me so I could try more stuff, haha. Now I definitely have to go back -.-

Desserts came! I got the Basil Panna Cotta ($7.00++ alone) which was very unique to me. There was supposed to be a strawberry reduction in it but I think the basil taste overpowered it. I'm still getting used to having this herb in my desserts, but I would say it was quite pleasant!

So I'm glad we had the chance the chance to meet up and chit chat! It's kinda funny how the topics become increasingly adult-y. Wish we had more time because the place closed at 3:00PM and we felt paiseh to keep the staff waiting! For some reason I feel so dissatisfied for not having picked the right food that I want to come back - or maybe I'll just go to their other outlet at Kallang? :D

Gal-entine's Day

Posted on Thursday, February 18, 2016

Spent Valentine's Day hanging at Trishna's (again) because the poor girl was pining her boi / she lives super near by / we are free people / we had to book Vietnam stuff! Justin isn't big on the whole commercialism of Vday, which is why we "celebrated" a few days before. I've noticed how actually quite a few people seem to do as well to avoid the huge price hikes on Vday itself.

Anyway, I'm still a girl; and who doesn't love feeling special, so the saving grace for Valentine's Day itself was receiving these gorgeous Janice Wong chocolates from NARS (thanks again, Celeste!) Inspired by their newly launched Velvet Matte Skin Tint, I love how each individual chocolate was unique yet similar, and they all sat together in the box like a piece of art I couldn't bear to eat (BUT I DID - salted caramel, yum yum).

So yep, ended the day with my favourite boy hiding in his room and stuffing our faces with leftover popcorn chicken that we made for our Chinese New Year party but forgot to distribute to the guests (OR DID WE). If this isn't luv I don't know what is :3

Borrowing from the Boys

Gap T-Shirt | Zalora Shoes | Ray Ban Aviators

Felt like keeping my outfit loose and comfortable for date day with the boyfriend! I love how we completely can have a set of day plans and completely change it without any fuss to have an even more fun day out.

We ended up spending 3 whole hours in this black hole also known as "the arcade", which is a hugely different experience when you're an adult and can just pay for more game credits yourself if you want (versus begging your parents for more). After that it was movie time! Deadpool - since it just released, and in GV Gold Class! It's a little something we spoil ourselves to once a year (tickets are $39.00 each) but for the comfiest plush leather chairs, soft fleece blankets, calling waiters for food to eat while watching the movie and just the overall right to pretend we are all fancy, haha.

We seriously ought to get out more.

NYX Re-Launch in Singapore

Posted on Monday, February 8, 2016

I have had my fair share of NYX growing up, them having filling the gap in the cosmetic between quality and affordable cosmetics products when I was young and all experimental. There's something about the brand that's really vibrant, and I actually felt super at home here with my new look (in case you guys didn't notice, haha).

Anyway, popped by Sephora on Friday night with Hanya (my beauty guru of a friend) for the Re-launch of NYX cosmetics under the umbrella of the L'Oreal family (oh, just a small cosmetic group you may have heard about). Because of the relaunch, you can now find a way larger range of NYX products such as their Limited Edition products that were previously not available in Singapore. On top of that, you don't have to wait six months for your goodies as they will be launched simultaneously as the U.S.!

Some things that caught my eye - the Ombre Blush which seems like such a natural and obvious thing to do for blushes that you wonder why isn't everyone doing it; and their Pore Filler - I've been death staring my pores for the longest time so finding it in my goodie bag all seemed very timely. I have yet to try the Butter Lipstick on properly, which is one of their signatures and very highly rated online. Personally, it took a while to dry on my hand, but maybe it will be good for my constantly dry lips!

The brand new NYX is available in Sephora Singapore from February 2016 onwards!

To Saigon and Beyond

Posted on Wednesday, February 3, 2016

Finally booked tickets for a value trip to around Vietnam with Trishna yesterday after much debating, worrying (mostly on my part) and overall deciding heck care we'll just do it since we are free-ish people! It's ironic how I haven't seen much of the neighbouring countries here in South East Asia since I've lived in Singapore my whole life. I do feel slightly paranoid about the safety of traveling around this region, and I have to remind myself that I did manage to travel all over Europe, many times by myself, sooooo I hope it'll be fine?

We'll be going on 1st March which is in just under a month so lots of planning to do - feel free to email me at monica_lie@hotmail.com if you're interested in a collaboration or feature! (For obvious reasons my pictures look tons better overseas, which is funny because you'd think I'd put more effort into my dressing when I am in the comforts of my own country - but nope).

Planning on keeping this a nice budget trip, any suggestions for food / activities / places to go?
