Brunch at Rocket Coffeebar S49

Posted on Wednesday, September 28, 2016

Had a really fruitful trip to Bangkok with Janine last month - I think this is my fourth time ever in the city but there's always something to do and every vacation is a little different! This was by far the most chill in the sense that I only brought my camera out on the last day for our cafe trip, which I promise you is rare for me because I drag it every where with me normally, haha. It was kinda liberating to not have to take picture of everything, but of course I finally took it out with me because we were going to... Rocket Coffeebar!

So I swear I hardly see J9 in the day time other than shopping and cutting hair back in Singapore cause we are night bugs - but miraculously we managed to drag ourselves out of bed early-ish (around 11am) because we were worried it would be crowded. In actuality, it stayed pretty empty the whole time we were there - so no worries if you are coming in for a late lunch.

After the last few days of stuffing ourselves with mango sticky rice, coconut ice cream and tom yam seafood soup, it was quite refreshing to have a super clean, healthy, nordic breakfast. I had the Maiden's Breakfast Plate (370 Baht, or SGD14.60~), and I added on some wild mushrooms cause it didn't look super filling; and Janine had the Rocket Benedict (290 Baht, or SGD11.40~) which came with chorizo on a light brioche bun. Kinda envious because her eggs were hot - but I was trying to pick something different for once, kay. Fun fact: all the food on their brunch menu is gluten free! I'm not particular about my diet but just FYI if you're into that stuff.

Lastly, there are actually a few branches of Rocket Coffeebar in Bangkok, so make sure you come to the right one - which is at Sukhumvit Soi 49! Almost went to the one at Sathorn S12 which is not as pretty, true story.

Janine let me run around and have my fun taking photos of the place cause I'd been wanting to come here for quite a while (the space is sooo pretty, I mean you can see from the photos), so yay, another cafe off the bucket list!

Luxe Sydney Triple Date! (And Sloth)

Posted on Sunday, September 25, 2016

The auntie in me always feels kind of shiok whenever I get to use all three 1-for-1 mains coupons in my Entertainer App because then at least the money I paid for it is kinda worth it, haha.

Anyway, was surprised that they even had 1-for-1 at Luxe Sydney because I've been wanting to go! Just nice, we had a brunch triple date (+ a single Sloth, hahahaha, or apparently where it would Me/Justin, it's Sloth/Sloth) which turned out to be a full day of cafe hopping, card game playing, Whampoa steamboat kind of excursion :'D Kinda regret not sleeping earlier the night before but somehow made it through with our tummies full and very exhausted! Felt like a tourist in my own country.

Anyway, Luxe Sydney - yes, very Australian with its waiters all laid-back cool in printed boxer shorts, light filled restaurant kinda casual dining feeling blah blah. Food wise... So-so. I had the Mushroom Lasagne (Justin always questions how I can not eat meat for my meal, but it's not cause I care about animals - I just really, R.E.A.L.L.Y. love mushrooms - true story!) but this time round, I actually didn't finish my meal, it was just not well seasoned or sizzling hot enough. Boooooo. The boys had their cool looking burgers and Jane's Chicken Avocado Salad thing looked really good though - wish I had some of that instead!

Anyway since then we've had another triple date, so that's how slow my blog posts are, but no one is keeping track... right?

Looksee Looksee Review

Posted on Wednesday, September 21, 2016

Pink Dress from Bangkok (similar here) | ASOS Leather Slides

Indulging in this space that is Looksee Looksee, by the Lo & Behold Group. With all the industrial / scandinavian themed cafes out there (which I love, don't get me wrong), it's refreshing to have something so modern yet... Art Deco.

Anyway, the reading room / tea salon only only opened a month or so ago. Reading material is ultra hip and Instagram worthy, and the drinks have no price - it's tip what you feel it was worth. I had the Pina Colada + Ginger cold brew tea that came with a dark chocolate pairing. Apparently I was supposed to nibble a bit of the chocolate and sip it with my delightfully blush pink coloured tea, but greedy me kind just ate the whole thing at once - oops. There are three drink options in total - 1 cold, 2 hot - but it was warm out so Isabella and I both took the same drink!

So yep, all you Instagram machines will definitely find no lack of things to take picture of here - but only if you can find the time as it only opens on weekdays at the moment!

Escentials 14th Anniversary

Posted on Monday, September 19, 2016

The ladies from Mercury kindly sent me an invite to come down for Escentials 14th Anniversary Party (14!! So amazing to be in business for so long), and Hanya was my partner in crime for the day!

Tried out a zillion perfumes and scents they had in the store - my favourite being Diptyque of course though they have other great brands like Byredo and Commes des Garcons; got an express makeover by Vanitee; drank the free flow Moet; nommed the tidbits by Prive (and as usual we ate too much the waiters recognised us, hahaha); and tried to flatlay the shit out of the flatlay station to win the contest of the night (BUT DIDN'T, SOB).

Alas, still a good Friday night spent. I swear I am pulling myself thin these days but I want to do everything that life hands me.
