Travelogue: More Madrid!

I'm in the middle of the Dades Gorge now, halfway to the Sahara Desert. It's a really rural part of Morocco and amazingly - there's internet!!!
Here's my long Madrid post as promised!
11am at Plaza Mayor for our free tour! There's a Christmas fair being set up.
"I was built on water, and my walls are made of fire."
San Francisco el Grande Basillica - lots of Moorish influence in the architecture,
which makes me even more excited to go to Morocco!
Plaza de la Villa, outside the old town hall of Madrid called...
Casa de la Villa! (Justin says that's originality for you haha).
And we end our tour outside the Royal Palace of Madrid with it's pretty nice gardens,
though it's winter and everything is pretty bleah most of the time.
We visit Mercando San Miguel, or San Miguel's market, which is a lovely modern yet old fashioned building that houses a market which sells all kinds of delicious foods to nibble on. They also sell wine, but we decided to give it a miss since it was only lunch time!
Pinchos! Salmon, cod liver, mussels, anchovy, tuna, bacalao...! Yum!
Giant angler fish! You know the ones in the deep seas
that have those lights in front of them to attract small fishes.
We try some sea urchin just for fun! It has a really strong sea taste, since it's raw.
Spanish must-have, Paella! This one is seafood. It's kind of like the fried rice of their culture, except they stew it. I bet they have it for all their parties because it's so economical!
Another Spanish must-have, CHURROS! I used to think this was an American snack but whoddathunk it's actually of Spanish origin? They're basically made of dough, and Can be eaten dipped into the hot chocolate they provided. I believe the Spanish eat this as breakfast food, and even as post clubbing food as the cafe San Gines is open 24 hours!
