Staycation at KēSa House

Posted on Saturday, June 1, 2019

Took a day out of the house for a little staycation at KēSa House, which is located right in the heart of Keong Saik! We stayed in the Sky Room which was a lovely light filled space (but don't worry, there were automatic curtains to block the sun out if you need darkness to sleep, haha).

Work desk space and plenty of cupboards for storing your personal belongings.

Bathrooms were outfitted with Ashley & Co soap and shampoos!

On top of being a staycation spot, KēSa House is also a flexible living space for short to long term rentals, i.e. they have all the amenities for you to live your daily life, like a washing room (with detergent provided), and common living spaces within the premises!

The is a fully equipped shared kitchen...

And an outdoor patio for you to hang and chill in the evening!

There's also a living area which you are welcome to invite outside guests to come and hang till 11pm!

Though it's not part of the staycation package, The Affogato Lounge downstairs does serve brunch (from 11am only) if you are looking for a nice late wake up and meal in the premise.

The Chai Iced Chocolate was really goooood.

We had paninis (S$15.00++ each), one duck and one spicy Italian which we traded so we could have one of each (and variety is the spice of life right?) If forced to choose between the two, I'd probably go for the spicy Italian again because of the stronger flavour! They smelled absolutely amazing while they were being prepped, and portion sizing was just nice for us girls (but if you are a guy, consider getting some sides too!)

All in all a really chill stay - although now we have a our own home which is really comfy, it's still nice to go out for a little change of scenery every now and then!

A NARS Summer at One Night Only

Posted on Thursday, June 15, 2017

I think Celeste and team outdid themselves this time for the 2017 NARS Summer Launch! Popped down for brunch at the trendy American diner-esque One Night Only with dear Mong and we were just blown away by the whole set up, which was inspired by the shade of their famous Orgasm blush (lots of photos ahead! I promise I edited down already - the space was just too gorgeous).

I'LL NEVER THROW THESE GOLD BOXES AWAY.

Everything was so perfect down to the textured pink napkins and pink plates I could cry. Mong and I just kept exclaiming and running around taking pictures and trying out the new products for a good half hour before we finally got round to ordering food.

Just in case you were thinking of taking a trip down and get a little surprise, the tables were covered in Orgasm pink for the day because of a stick-on laminate, so it was literally there for One Night Only (or One Day Only? hahaha). The tables are actually glass underneath on normal days!

Off to check out the new Summer 2017 launches!

This was the first set I laid my eyes on but it was LOVE. This here is their famous Orgasm shade done 3 different ways - in a shiny satiny lipstick, a sheer liquid blush (the bottle is matte glass ahh) and of course the classic powder with a little case update in pink just for the summer. We got to take these home in those precious golden boxes laid out for us. I am most excited about the Liquid Blush because it's so subtle - I tried it on along with the lipstick and the powder blush as eyeshadow since they had a little make-over counter for us, here it is!

Next up, their new Bronzing collection, 4 classic shades now in matte - Laguna, Casino, Seaside and Falaises! I'm all for a matte, bronzed look these days, so this is right up my alley (I always, always contour when I wear make-up). The chevron textured surface is so gorgeous I think I just won't use mine and stare at it forever instead.

Ok after seeing this palette I was like "nevermind everything else, I WANT THIS". I think everyone felt the same because I heard a few other girls echoing the same sentiment. I think every girl is a sucker for a good palette with both a bronzer and a highlighter, it just makes life easier, you know? This one's only launching in July 2017 (everything else is available in stores!)

Also, there's one more set but I kind of forgot to take pictures, whoops. But these 3 are my favourites anyway!

When you eat so much you fall asleep.

Eventually we stopped running all over the place and settled down to eat! There were 3 options on the menu but somehow everyone at our table ended up opting for the Breakfast Platter which came with hashbrowns, eggs done your way, toast, and bacon or portobello mushrooms. Honestly we couldn't choose between either so we asked if we could have both, and the restaurant staff kindly acceded to our greedy requests!

I feel that as a woman it's really important to not be shy and ask for things - a lot of us feel like it's hard to assert yourself and get what you want while still being liked, but a smile goes a long way, and just having the courage because the worse they could just say anyway is "no". Anyway it's funny because we literally talked about everything from gender equality, to racism in Singapore and LGBT rights while eating and when I told Justin afterwards he said "kinda heavy topics for brunch, no?" but haha, we did it!

Thanks NARS for yet another lovely escape into their surreal world!

Paca-Peeps

Posted on Tuesday, January 20, 2015

I constantly find myself back at Pacamara for brunch, which doesn't make sense on the practical side because there are so many new cafes that are popping up around Singapore every month, but I guess it's a combination of the fact that it's so near (10 minutes walk), and that I love the interiors and how spacious it is (though it is getting more and more crowded these days!!!)

Anyway, headed down once again with couple fwens and cafe hoppers Jiehui & Renhao. We tried not too take too many photos so our food wouldn't be cold. Tried being the operative word here. It's true that we could save a lot of money if we didn't eat brunch at fancy cafes, but then where would all the fun in life be?

Toby's Estate

Posted on Monday, March 3, 2014

It's been a while since I've had brunch! Jiehui (I always think of her as @highwayclouds teehee) and I headed to Toby's Estate just cause we felt like having a girly date. I've heard about Toby's for a good 2 years but just never got round to coming down, so it was nice to tick this one off the list (yes, there is a list)! The restaurant interior is everything you could hope for in a brunch place - bright, open, airy with amazing never-ending ceilings; throw in a unique concept of a communal table and modern shabby-chic interiors.

The food itself was honestly so-so considering how much one pays at these brunch places, but who cares if it's Instagram worthy right? That's the reality (and the irony) on how to differentiate your restaurant. Not to say I don't appreciate gobbling down a well presented plate of Eggs Benedict and prosciutto, but it's great to have a fellow instagram crazy friend to be silly with and take photos of our food, even if we probably got judged by everyone in the restaurant for standing up to get our top shots + our food got cold!!! If only we could have brunches every weekend, maybe we'd care less and actually get round to eating our food first (hehe).

Little Diner Singapore

Posted on Thursday, August 29, 2013

When I think of brunch in the west of Singapore, names such as Choupinette come to mind, so when we decided to be a little more adventurous and try out Little Diner at 6th Avenue, which isn't as well covered by the food blog scene, but definitely worth a visit!

Zee neighbours! (And the little sis who is a fattykins next to me).

My dish! They have many egg benedict variations such as The "Krusty Krab" Benedict and Supernova Eggs Benedict, but I go with The Italian Benedict ($16.50++) because I'm a sucker for parma ham :} Good, good stuff! The brioche is soft and absorbs all the runny egg yolk, and the parma ham is so generous I don't even have to ration it out! (I have this weird need to eat and finish all ingredients at the same time).

Pei Ting gets the "Krusty Krab" Benedict ($16.50++), where the crab in question is described as a 'Golden crabcake pillow' (which already sounds amazing), and I do try a bit of it! It's crispy and freshly fried, and maybe a bit too small because then I couldn't ask PT for more HAHA. However, I wouldn't order this personally as I feel that eggs benedicts need something in between the egg and the brioche, you know? Just a personal preference.

What I should have ordered!!! I was totally eyeing the Baked Mac & Cheese ($15.50++) on the lunch menu, but I was in the mood for egg benedict, see, and Pei Li was ordering so it means I got to try both! Would definitely order this if I came again, piping hot, gooey, and such a generous portion compared to other Mac & Cheese's i've tried! Yummy!

And Miranda's dish - so typical that she goes for the sweet instead of savoury! This must be where this girl gets all her crazy hyper energy from haha. It's the Stuffed Super Cereal-Crusted French Toast ($15.50++) which is seriously high level and I've never tasted so much depth in just one french toast. It's stuffed (as the name suggests) to the brim with nutella, with strawberries on the side and drizzled in maple syrup and powdered sugar! There's supposed to be bananas too but the orderee doesn't like them (whattt). A worthy dish to order as a dessert for sharing!

And a group photo! Friendship of 10 years and counting! Much love
