Gosh these photos are super old but I finally found time to put them up! Spent some quality talking time with my almost-neighbour E-main at Cups N Canvas in another one of our cafe hunts. The concept of the cafe sounded pretty cool - drinking coffee while painting, but we decided to skip the painting portion and focus on the food, which most people there did as well.

The main reason we wanted to come was because of the Sweet Potato Latte ($4.80), which is the pretty purple coffee you see above, but sadly it's prettier than it looks. Personally i found the sweet potato taste too strong and heavy, and E-main didn't finish it, so I would say give it a miss! Not to mention, breakfast was seriously lacking. Sure it looks delicious in photos, but the scrambled eggs were sadly dry, the sauteed mushrooms were under-seasoned and the bread was cold. Eee. Not cheap either - i had the Breakfast Delight with the smoked salmon ($18.90) and E-main had the Breakfast Canvas with the bratwurst ($17.90). Side note, I can't look at the word bratwurst and pronounce it any other way than the Germans do hehe.

The only saving grace of the meal was the Earl Grey Cheesecake ($7.00). To die for! The earl grey flavour was definitely strong enough to enhance the whole cheesecake. Would actually consider coming back for just this despite the less than average food and overpriced. It was that good.

So yep. All in all, food was disappointing but company definitely was not :) I'm trying my hardest to learn from role models like my friends. E-main for one always tries to see the best in people, and I don't know why that's not something I do naturally, but I feel that a lot of times we are conditioned to feel the way we feel are because of the people we grew up with. So it's a great thing to surround myself with positive friends such as E-main to slowly begin the process of (hopefully) becoming a better person ♥

Just a behind the scenes look at what went down at the latest Lookbook shoot, Perk by Kate for The Ordinary Co! It wasn't easy for Kate and I to find to find the perfect model, but I guess it worked out in the end because when I look back on the photos, I think that Trishna really did a good job of bringing what I was envisioning to life and still keeping it all classy. Not to mention, Kate's house is an absolute dream to shoot in and she and her husband were so generous to feed us kiddos with lots of tidbits! Wish I took more photos of the place! Totally inspired.

Anyway, I think one of the key ideas that guides me for the brand and direction of The Ordinary Co is of the models just being Ordinary Girls - hanging around at home, not over-made up and always accessible. The girl could be you. I always have so much self doubt whenever first look at the raw photos I take after every photoshoot, and shooting lingerie should be a controversial thing so I'm grateful for the feedback from people who saw it and said it looked really high fashion which is all I really want zomg :'D

Looking forward to shooting more controversial things in future, but yet keeping it all stylish. Off to another shoot tomorrow, but this time I won't be behind the lens! (No, I am not one of those people who start a blogshop so they can be models lolol) But yep, stay tuned to find out more!

So I've known about Windowsill Pies for quite a number of years, ever since they began humbly in Pandan Valley, then moved to Manicurious and finally here at Windowsill in the Woods. I absolutely love how the interior of the cafe perfectly complements the pies. I've never seen any cafe like it really. I feel like a kid again with the adorkable woodland decor, and yet it's actually cool. After stumbling around all day in the Jalan Basar area, Jess and I treat ourselves to pies! I got the Banana Almond Brittle and she got the S'mores pie ($7.50 a slice). Personally I thought the Banana Almond Brittle was a bit too airy, but I give the smores a thumbs up for the base. Yum. Having pies may be a good idea if you think that cakes are too mainstream, on top of the whole fact that we had a hell of a time finding it, it's definitely a unique cafe to go out of the million others in Singapore. Definitely want to come back again to try all the flavours!
