Day One of my first ever Singapore Fashion Week as a NARS Insider (thank you Celeste for always thinking of me!) It was a huge honour and such a rush deciding what to wear, getting ready for the shows, and making my way down to the gorgeous National Gallery for 3 hectic days in a row. My feet have never felt so sore after all the walking in-between shows and backstage sneak peeks in which I learnt some fun tips, like how the make up artists spend a lot of time massaging the models' faces before a shred of makeup is even put on them (it's to remove water retention), and a sneaky little trick that they use the Audacious blush on the eyes instead of a pink eyeshadow - of course! But anyway, I really wouldn't take back the experience for the world!
So a I guess a part of me feels out of place - like who am I in this industry, but another part of me is super grateful to have the opportunity to see all the talent and another side of Singapore - like you know you're at the right place when suddenly everyone around you is dressed to the nines. It's especially fitting how SGFW this year tries to draw back to our Asian roots, showcasing only Asian designers and of course our own local talent, Max Tan Studios who was showing for the day - very goth and monochromatic but even I loved the black spaghetti strap number with the white pleats (can you spot it?)
Saffron came with me and we hit the Absolut Elyx after party at Anti:Dote, got acquainted with Eugene (not pictured!) and had our share of free flow cocktails and snacks. Yep. A pretty good start to a very busy few days.
