Jessica for The Ordinary Co

Posted on Saturday, April 5, 2014

JESSICA for THE ORDINARY CO.
Model: Jessica Gabrielle Teo
Photography & Styling: Myself

I was racking my brains thinking of where to shoot the latest Lookbook for The Ordinary Co that gave it  an oriental yet modern feel, and then I realised that my house was... perfect, haha. There's something about shooting in the comfort of your own home that lessens the worry of things such as *shudder* logistics. Anyway, I think I went a little darker with the editing this time. My natural inclination is to keep on hitting that "brightness" button, but for once I hit it in the other direction. There is an (accidental?) progression to lightness towards the end of the shoot, it wasn't intentional but I quite like it. Anyway, it was really fun to shoot Jess and she looks good in a lot of the photos, so it was honestly hard to pick what to release for the Lookbook (I added some extra favourites that weren't featured in here!)

Plus, despite how serious she looks in the photos, do you know she's really a big cheeseball? Seriously, look at our behind the scenes photos!

All the jewelry featured in this shoot is available on The Ordinary Co, so head over to grab your favourite cause they're really running out fast!

For the curious ones, I shot this on my amateur-ish Canon 500D with the 50mm f/1.8 prime lens I kind of indefinitely (and gratefully) borrowed from my big sister :D Pfft, who needs fancy cameras? But haha, just kidding. I'd grab a 6D if i could, but really, work with what you have guys.

We Packed a Picnic

Posted on Tuesday, April 1, 2014

Topshop Straw Fedora | Topshop Top | Forever 21 Shorts

So due to our lack of time on the weekends, somehow Justin and I ended up picnicking at Marina Barrage at some stupid time like 12 noon where the sun was burning hot. But thank goodness for sun protection! You don't realise how hot it really is until you take off your sunnies and fedora, and then you understand how much more bearable they make the heat (and yes - we remembered our sunscreen)! Anyway, I never imagined that I would be able to drag Justin to picnic with me in Singapore because of our shitty weather, but we figured we may as well since we had to make a trip to Marina Barrage to fulfill some field trip requirements for a mod in school.

We prepared a gourmet picnic of smoked salmon cream cheese bagels with capers, nachos with guaca-hummus dip, and a potato salad! And who knew the Juno soundtrack makes some pretty good picnic music? My only regret is we couldn't spend longer lazing around!

Picnic tip: Freeze the whole bottle of your sweet drinks the night before and take it out when you go picnicking so you don't have to bring ice! It stayed cold and awesomely frozen for a good 5 hours, even in 30 something degree heat.

In Conversations with Naiise

Posted on Friday, March 28, 2014

Hello! I had a pretty fun time browsing through all the unique items that Naiise has to offer while curating a travel collection for them as a guest curator! The theme I chose was City Slicker - things I would bring on a city vacation. There are definitely quite a few pieces I picked out that I wish I could have myself like those comfy yet chic leopard print flats, that perfect little black dress, and the camera bag-that-looks-as-good-as-a-real-bag. I also did a little interview with them about traveling and what inspires me, which is kinda funny cause i'm really nobody, but if you're interested in what awkward things I have to say, you can click on the link here to read more about it!
