Windowsill in the Woods

So I've known about Windowsill Pies for quite a number of years, ever since they began humbly in Pandan Valley, then moved to Manicurious and finally here at Windowsill in the Woods. I absolutely love how the interior of the cafe perfectly complements the pies. I've never seen any cafe like it really. I feel like a kid again with the adorkable woodland decor, and yet it's actually cool. After stumbling around all day in the Jalan Basar area, Jess and I treat ourselves to pies! I got the Banana Almond Brittle and she got the S'mores pie ($7.50 a slice). Personally I thought the Banana Almond Brittle was a bit too airy, but I give the smores a thumbs up for the base. Yum. Having pies may be a good idea if you think that cakes are too mainstream, on top of the whole fact that we had a hell of a time finding it, it's definitely a unique cafe to go out of the million others in Singapore. Definitely want to come back again to try all the flavours!

A Naiise Pop-Up Store

So much to look and see at Naiise's pop-up store! It was nice to be contacted again by Amanda to come down on their opening day to the unexplored area of Jalan Besar! And yay - Jess came along to keep me company after our brunch at The Bravery cause I'm too shy to go for these things alone heh.

If you're looking for something unique that strays from the cookie-cutter stuff you often see online, this month is a pretty good opportunity to swing by and see what Naiise has to offer in real life. I am particularly fond of the local section they have on their website that features uniquely Singaporean goods, like the "Chey, i'm the Chiobu lor~" tote bag above! They have tons of other trinkets to look at and even a shoe making workshop going on at the same time (which you have to make an appointment for).

But anyway it was really nice to finally meet Amanda in real life, who also kindly gave me a tour of the store and share with me a little more about what goes on behind the scenes with Naiise and how much effort they put into creating this pop-up store (they rolled that huge yellow spool thing from a nearby dump all by themselves!) It's cool how much you can do with a little creativity, no matter what your budget. The people at Naiise are terribly resourceful!!!

Visited Naiise's pop up store till 22nd June at 115 King George's Avenue and is open from 12:00 - 7:00pm daily!

Brunch with Jess @ The Bravery

Although the boyfriend laughed at me for paying $10.50 for The Bravery's Eggs on Toast (with half an avocado), I actually thought it was one of the most value brunches I've had in Singapore in a while! The avocado was perfectly ripe like butter (ooh) and the poached eggs were also done to perfection with that oozy yellow yolk that bursts out when you cut into it. Jess had her Eggs on Toast (with smoked salmon) ($13.00) which may have been even more value cause they gave her tons and tons of them Salmon (which i koped hehe).

Anyway, we chose to travel to the supposedly industrial hip Jalan Besar  area to try The Bravery because it happened to be just a 5 minute stroll to Naiise's pop up store at 115 King George's Avenue! Will blog about that real soon! The Jalan Besar area actually has quite a number of cool cafes, so it's definitely worth giving this area a visit.
